Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how ReWire Neurotechnologies, Inc. (“ReWire,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our consumer services, including Edge, ChillsTV, and related ReWire services (the “Service”). It is part of our Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with it, do not use the Service.
The Service is built around information you choose to share about your inner life. We designed our data practices around that reality: we collect information to provide and improve the Service and, where you separately consent, for scientific research; we do not sell your information, and we do not use the content of your reflections for advertising.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. Email address, password (stored as a hash), subscription status, and, where applicable, your first name and information received when you sign in through a third-party authentication provider.
Your inputs and other content (“User Content”). User Content is the information you choose to provide through the Service. In Edge, this includes what you write about what you want to work on, why it matters to you, and any Notebook entries you create. In ChillsTV, this includes your questionnaire answers, including information about your age bracket, gender, ethnicity, education, mental health, personality, chills history, and habits, as well as written responses about what gave you chills and why. User Content can include deeply personal information about your emotional state, relationships, memories, wellbeing, preferences, and experiences. You control what you share, and the Service works with the information you choose to provide.
Meditation responses. Your answers to in-app reflection or experience questions, including whether you experienced chills, how much you liked a Meditation, and similar responses about your experience using the Service.
Generated content. The Service may generate information from your inputs and activity, including personalized scripts and audio, chills scores, video recommendations, compatibility percentages, matched-content results, and other outputs, predictions, or recommendations.
Submitted media and research content. If you use features such as ChillsTV’s “Send to the lab” feature, we may collect links, descriptions, or other information you voluntarily submit about videos or other content that gave you chills.
Usage and device information. Session timestamps, features used, listening activity, videos viewed or matched, Meditiations started or completed, device type, browser, and IP address, used to operate, secure, and debug the Service. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of your purchase and subscription status; we do not receive or store your full card number.
2. Consumer Health Data and Sensitive Information
Some of the information described above — including your reflections, your emotional responses, Notebook entries, questionnaire responses, chills-related responses, and information we derive from those responses — may reveal information about your mental or emotional state. Depending on where you live, this may be treated as “sensitive personal information” (California) or “consumer health data” (Washington, Nevada, and other states).
Your consent. We collect and process this information only with your affirmative consent, which you give through the applicable consent screen presented through the Service. We use it to provide and operate the Service and, where you separately consent to research use, for the research purposes described in Section 4.
What we collect and why. The information listed in Section 1 is used to generate your personalized Meditations, to personalize and operate the Service, generate recommendations and compatibility results, maintain your Notebook and other account features, and support the other uses described in this Policy.
How We Obtain This Information. We collect this information from you and may derive additional information from your use of the Service. We do not collect health-related information about you from third parties.
Sharing. We share this information only as described in this Policy, including with service providers that process information on our behalf and, where you have separately consented to research use, in de-identified form with research collaborators as described in Section 4. We do not sell consumer health data, and we do not share it for advertising. We will never sell or share your consumer health data in exchange for anything of value without the separate, valid authorization required by applicable law.
Withdrawing consent. You can withdraw your consent to processing that is necessary to provide the Service by deleting applicable content or your account, as described in Section 7. Because some features of the Service depend on this information, withdrawing that consent may prevent some or all of the Service from working for you. You may separately withdraw research consent at any time as described in Section 4 without affecting your ability to use Edge or ChillsTV.
Washington and Nevada residents. You have the right to confirm whether we collect consumer health data about you, to access it, to withdraw consent, to have it deleted, and to appeal a refusal, as described in Section 8. A list of the third parties with whom consumer health data is shared appears in Section 5.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Generate your personalized Meditations, including by processing your inputs through the AI and voice-synthesis providers listed in Section 5.
- Operate your account, Meditations, Notebook, ChillsTV features, and subscription.
- Personalize the Service, including by matching you to content, generating chills scores and compatibility results, and using your prior activity and responses to inform future Meditations.
- Run safety screening on inputs before a Meditation is generated, and surface crisis resources where appropriate.
- Maintain, secure, debug, and improve the Service, including improving our content-matching and safety-screening systems.
- Conduct scientific research, including training, fine-tuning, and evaluating ReWire’s own models, where you have separately consented to research use, as described in Section 4.
- Communicate with you about your account, purchases, and material changes to the Service or our terms.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms.
We do not use the content of your reflections or other User Content for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
4. Scientific Research
If you separately consent to research use, ReWire may use certain information from your use of Edge and ChillsTV for scientific research. This may include questionnaire responses, Meditations, Notebook entries, chills-related responses, listening activity, videos matched to or submitted by you, compatibility results, written responses, and generated scripts.
Before using information for research, we remove names, email addresses, and other direct identifiers. Because free-text responses may themselves contain identifying details, we refer to this information as de-identified rather than anonymous. ReWire maintains a private internal key linking research records to user accounts so that we can honor withdrawal requests.
We conduct research internally to improve our services, including to train, fine-tune, and evaluate ReWire’s own machine learning models, including language models used to generate your Meditations. We may also conduct research with academic partners, including research conducted under institutional review board approval. Data shared with research partners is de-identified, and research findings may be published or presented only in aggregate form.
You may withdraw your research consent at any time by emailing [email protected]. If you withdraw consent, we will stop using your data in new research, delete research records held by ReWire that remain linked to you, and delete the key linking those records to your account. Withdrawal does not affect your ability to use Edge or ChillsTV.
Information that has already been incorporated into completed analyses, shared with research partners in de-identified form, included in published results, or used to train a completed model may be retained because it can no longer reasonably be traced back to you or removed from the completed research or model. Your data will not be used for future research or future model training after your withdrawal.
5. Who We Share Information With
We share information only with:
Service providers. We share information with service providers that perform services on our behalf and are bound by contractual restrictions on their use of your information. These providers include:
- AI text generation and safety screening: large language model providers (Anthropic, Google)
- Voice synthesis: ElevenLabs
- Hosting and infrastructure: Render
- Payments: Stripe
- Email delivery: our transactional email provider
Our AI and voice providers process your inputs to generate your Meditations and do not use them to train their models, under the terms of our agreements with them.
Research collaborators. Where you have separately consented to research use, we may share de-identified research data with academic or other research collaborators as described in Section 4.
Other users at your direction. If you use a feature that is designed to share information with another user, such as ChillsTV compatibility, we may share the information necessary to provide that feature. For compatibility results, this may include your first name, compatibility percentage, and whether particular videos were a match or no match. We do not share your questionnaire answers, individual chills score, or written responses with the other participant.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law (for example, a valid subpoena), or where necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of you, ReWire, or others. Where legally permitted, we will attempt to notify you of legal demands for your data.
Business transfers. If ReWire is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction; this Policy will continue to apply to it, and we will notify you of any change in ownership or use.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls that limit who at ReWire can see your User Content or other information. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and keep your device secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete individual Notebook entries, Meditations, and other content where the Service provides a deletion option in the app at any time.
When you delete your account (Settings → Delete my account), we delete your account information, User Content, Meditation responses, and generated content within 10 days, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law (for example, payment and consent records) or to resolve disputes.
Research data is handled separately. If you withdraw research consent, we stop using your data in new research and delete research records held by ReWire that remain linked to you, along with the key linking those records to your account. Information that has already been incorporated into completed analyses, shared with research partners in de-identified form, included in published results, or used to train a completed model may be retained as described in Section 4.
You can also export your data at any time (Settings → Download my data).
8. Your Rights
Everyone. Regardless of where you live, you can access, export, correct, and delete your information through the app (Settings), or by emailing [email protected]. We do not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to access and receive a portable copy; to correct inaccuracies; to delete; and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We use sensitive personal information only to provide and operate the Service and where you separately consent, for the research purposes described in Section 4. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CPRA, so no sale/share opt-out is required. To exercise rights, use the in-app tools or email [email protected]; we will verify requests using your account email. You may use an authorized agent as permitted by law.
Washington and Nevada residents (consumer health data laws). In addition to the rights above, you may confirm collection of, access, and delete consumer health data, and withdraw consent, as described in Section 2. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision email with “Appeal” in the subject line; we will respond within the legally required period.
9. Where the Service Is Available
The Service is offered only to users located in the United States, and all data is processed in the United States. The Service is not directed to, and is not available in, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from residents of those regions. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
10. Children
The Service is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact [email protected].
11. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes — especially any change to how we handle your User Content, consumer health data, sensitive information, or research data — we will notify you in the app and ask for your renewed consent where the law requires it. The effective date at the top shows when this Policy was last updated, and prior versions are available on request.
